HARTFORD, CT (WCBS 880) - A lot of people in Connecticut and other states work out of their home offices for companies located across state lines, in New York, for example.
WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau On The Story
These telecommuters, as they’re known, are hit with taxes from both states in the paychecks.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he and Sen. Joe Lieberman want to end this unfairness.
“Double taxation is unjust and unproductive for our nation and our economy,” Blumenthal told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
Blumenthal says telecommuting should be encouraged since it eases traffic congestion and reduces demand for gasoline.
He says telecommuting is really one of the trends of the future.
