DMV Offers New License Plate For Veterans In New York

The plate features the U.S. flag in the background and the word “Veteran” to the left of the plate number.
The DMV says the veterans plate is available for both passenger and commercial vehicles to U.S. veterans who have vehicles registered in New York State.

For veterans who have an older version of the plate and wish to upgrade, the cost to do so, including plate manufacture and document fees, is $28.75.
To obtain a veteran plate for the first time will cost, an additional $10 is charged.
Applicants are required to provide a copy of their DD-214 or discharge papers or other proof that he or she is a veteran.
