Times Square Toys 'R' Us To Kick Off Holiday Shopping Season With Thanksgiving Night Event

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A Times Square staple is getting a head start on the holidays.

Toys "R" Us announced Monday that it will kick off Black Friday early this year, with stores slated to open their doors at 9 p.m. Thanksgiving night and remain open for 26 straight hours of shopping.

"Black Friday is truly the kick off to the holiday shopping season," said Greg Ahearn, the toy store's Chief Marketing Officer. "We're offering more savings than ever and providing even more hours to save."

Stores across the country will be participating in the shopping frenzy, during which nearly 300 deals - like free gift cards with the purchase of an iPod touch or 50 percent off certain Android products.
