Suffolk County Executive-Elect Steve Bellone Lays Out Plan

HAUPPAGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Suffolk residents received an invitation on Thursday from Steve Bellone who will take over as county executive on Jan. 1.

"I want the best ideas and the best suggestions for how we need to move forward in this county," Bellone said.

Bellone wants to hire fresh people and is asking residents to send their resumes to SuffolkCountyWorksForYou.com.

"I am inviting every resident and every business owner in Suffolk County to be a part of this transition process," he said.

The County Executive-elect also appointed Babylon Town Councilman Antonio Martinez and Southold attorney Regina Calcaterra  to run his transition.

As part of his transition process, Bellone will hold meetings throughout Suffolk County to get feedback from residents.

Bellone said his first priority is to hire a finance team to fix the county's budget woes.

He will be holding a meeting next week on the economy and a forum on diversity in Brentwood.
