People Aren’t Showing Up For Their 9/11 Memorial Reservations

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Since the 9/11 Memorial opened to the public, you had to pick a date and time and book a reservation in order to go there.

But more than 30 percent of the people who scheduled a visit on the 9/11 memorial website over the past two months have failed to show up at their reserved date and time.

“It’s something that we fully expect, and actually I’m a little bit surprised that the show rate is as high as it is. These are absolutely free passes. People are allowed to book six months in advance,” said memorial president and CEO Joe Daniels.

The memorial has now reduced the number of passes available that far in advance, and made more available to those asking a month, a week, a day, or just hours ahead of time.

“We make it very easy for people to get day of passes as well. They come to the preview site on Vesey between Church and Broadway and we hand out lots of passes in the morning for later on in the day,” Daniels told WCBS 880 reporter Rich Lamb.

Daniels says he’s thrilled a half million people have already visited the memorial.

Because of the NUTS across the street in zucatti park is why. Took guests from Australia who were visiting and was disgusted with how the protests ruin the Site.

I don’t believe they’re nuts, and that has NOTHING to do with my problem as I made my reservations BEFORE the protests began.

Fountains of molten steel would be more historically accurate.

  • Dave

I’ve made TWO reservations. Never got the confirmation email for either!

      That is an excellent point!

Its for security reasons….when you make the reservation online they want to know the name and date of birth for each person. Then you must present ID once you get there.
