Bergen County Toddler Needs Bone Marrow Donation And Your Help

FAIR LAWN, NJ (WCBS 880) - Ezra Fineman is a 2-year-old Fair Lawn boy who loves the alphabet, music and his tricycle. He's also in need of a bone marrow transplant to help overcome a rare immune deficiency disorder called Hyper IgM Syndrome.

"His body is unable to make the antibodies that everyone needs to fight off infection," said his mother, Robin. "At any time, complications can arise such as liver complications, lymphomas, and other malignancies."

The only cure is a bone marrow or stem cell transplant.

She says thousands of potential donors have had their cheek swabbed, but the money isn't there to process the kits.

"This has been very disheartening and frustrating for us, because Ezra's match could be in one of those kits in a box," she told WCBS 880 reporter Marla Diamond.
