NYPD Continues Search For Bronx Sex Assault Suspect

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a man they say is sexually assaulting women in the Baychester and Soundview sections of the Bronx.

The suspect is alleged to have attacked six women within six hours last week.

"It's just not okay, you can't, how do you just attack someone else and then have your way with them and think it's okay?" said Zoey Pena of Baychester. "He's sick."

In almost all of the cases, the suspect approached the victim from behind. Police say the assaults started at 6:15 a.m. Thursday morning and continued until 12:18 p.m., with some just 15 minutes apart.

"I think it's a little bit cocky that he knows he can get away with it and keep doing it. Eventually they will do something but do they need to wait for a seventh person or an eighth person?" said Pena.

The suspect is described as a Black male between 20 and 30-years-old, standing nearly 5'11" with a thin build and dressed in a blue sweatshirt with gray sweat pants.

"I wouldn't feel safe walking around here, especially after dark" said resident Rachael Gaywood. "You know that's really terrible. I feel sorry for those women."

Some residents are hoping now for more police patrols.

"Just need to tighten up security I guess, police officers that's it, get a hold of the situation, make sure this guy's captured," said resident Von Jones.
