World’s Strongest Man Pulls School Bus Filled With Food In Waterbury
WATERBURY, Conn. (CBSNewYork) — It was quite a workout Tuesday morning for the Derek Poundstone. The Naugatuck police officer and World’s Strongest Man showed off his strength by pulling a school bus filled with donated food.
LISTEN: 1010 WINS Al Jones reports
Chained to the bumper of a bus, kids at Duggan Elementary School in Waterbury, Conn. cheered him on.
It was all part of a drive to help local pantries with all the food donated by students.
But pulling the bus uphill was almost too much for the world’s strongest man.
“Just pulled until I couldn’t pull anymore. It was a very heavy incline,” said Poundstone. “Probably the hardest pull I’ve ever done.”
But he said the kids cheering him on made it all worth it.
“It’s the reason I came out,” he said. “That’s what makes it all worth it. It’s inspiring.”
Poundstone has been competing in strongman contests for the last seven years.
