Surveillance Video Reveals More Questions Than Answers In Strauss-Kahn Case

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In the wake of the alleged sex assault involving a Manhattan hotel maid and a powerful international banker, a new video has surfaced. Lawyers for accuser Nafissatou Diallo say the images help prove their case, even after prosecutors decided to drop it.

"Nafi Diallo is the only victim in this case, not Dominique Strauss-Kahn," attorney Ken Thompson told CBS 2's Sean Hennessey on Thursday.

Lawyers for the woman accusing Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault inside the swanky Sofitel Hotel said the video proves she was telling the truth all along.

"The key here is an innocent woman was attacked in the hotel room and the evidence shows it," Thompson said.

Hotel cameras do show the former head of the International Monetary Fund leaving the elevator, heading to the front desk to check out, strolling across the hotel lobby, then outside where he grabs a cab and heads to the airport for a flight home to France. Diallo's lawyers said Strauss-Kahn is seen rushing out of the hotel, but that is disputable.

Later it shows Diallo waiting for security, and then re-enacting part of what happened inside Strauss-Kahn's room.

"She is showing her supervisor and the head of security how Dominique Strauss-Kahn pushed her down the hallway to the back of the suite," Thompson said.

After the story to security, the hotel called police. The video also shows two security guards hugging and celebrating, raising questions as to whether Strauss-Kahn was set up, as his supporters claim. However, Diallo's lawyers called that ridiculous.

"When you see Nafi Diallo in this video, do you see her dancing? Do you see her celebrating?" Thompson said.

Strauss-Kahn was indicted by a grand jury and paraded before the cameras after the hotel chamber maid claimed she was sexually assaulted.

"What happened to me I don't want to happen to any other woman," Diallo said at the time.

But the case was dropped when the Guinea native was caught lying about a number of issues in her past, raising significant credibility questions.

Lawyers for Strauss-Kahn had no comment on the video, which by the way, will be used in the civil case against him. Strauss-Kahn, the one-time candidate for the French presidency, is back in France. Diallo, her lawyers said, is trying to rebuild her life.
