Boomer & Craig got things started this morning talking about a little bit of everything, but they began with the Rangers after Craig stayed up to watch the Blueshirts fall 3-2 in a shootout to the Tampa Bay Lighting. Boomer was in Pittsburgh calling the Steelers’ ugly, 14-3 win over the Browns, but you can be assured the Blonde Bomber was keeping tabs. So in addition to being sleep deprived – like Craig – the Booms was a little irritable.
So it was Rangers at the top, which I think Craig allowed only in an attempt to stimulate Boomer early on, but not to worry, out of fear of losing the majority of the listening audience Cragie quickly shifted gears to some NBA trade rumors involving the Knicks – among other teams – before laughing his way through Giants’ defensive coordinator Perry Fewell’s claim that he is happy with his defense’s performance as of late.
Fewell (pictured) oversees a unit that has allowed 87 points the last two weeks – both losses (49-24 @ Saints & 38-35 vs. Packers) so I believe it is fair to say Craigie’s laughter was justified.
Boomer was perplexed by Fewell’s comments, this after saying his guys quit on him following the thrashing at the hands of the Saints back on November 28th. According to Boomer this is just another example of why assistant coaches should not be permitted to speak to the media.
After that Craig decided to put the Giants defense ‘on blast’ and that is how this Football Friday edition of the Boomer & Carton Morning Extravaganza began…
