NEW YORK (WFAN) — Deron Williams wants to play alongside Orlando superstar center Dwight Howard.

Nets fans want ‘Superman‘ in their house.

There were even reports last month which stated the Nets were in talks with the Magic about trading two first-round draft picks and center Brook Lopez in return for Howard.

But now it seems the big man himself has a preference. According to one report, he’s preparing to ask for a trade to the Nets.

The Nets want Williams with the team when they make their long-awaited move to Brooklyn. The point guard, who will opt out of his contract after this season, hasn’t been shy about his desire to re-sign — if New Jersey can land a big star.

One like Howard.

“If you’re a point guard and you can play with Dwight Howard and you decide to leave,” Williams told WFAN on Monday, “you’re not very smart.”

Also on Friday, TNT basketball analyst David Aldridge reported Orlando may file tampering charges against two unnamed teams. Aldridge says the Magic believe one of the teams contacted Howard “as recently as Thursday.”

SI.com’s Sam Amick reports the two teams are the Nets and Houston Rockets.

“The root of it on the Nets side, according to two sources, is alleged meeting between Dwight and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov on Thursday,” Amick tweeted. He added the alleged meeting is “believed to have happened in Miami.”

Meanwhile, Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports the Magic will not pursue a complaint against Houston due to a lack of information.

Earlier this week, Magic general manager Otis Smith said his team won’t bend to every request Howard makes.

“Our objective is to win an NBA title and who does that it is NBA basketball teams,” he said. “And that’s what we’re going to continue to do. We’re going to put the best team on the floor to give the Orlando Magic a chance to win an NBA title. That doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to listen to everything Dwight has to say and placate to that.”

Howard, like Williams, can opt out of his deal and become a free agent in July 2012.
