Predators, bullies and more are out there on the internet and Sgt. Michael Hoose with the Union County Prosecutor's Office says parents need to get on Facebook and Twitter.

He says don't spy or play cyber cop. Make it a conversation with your child and let them know you want to monitor their activities to keep them safe.

"This should be a family type things. These social media sites should not be left just for the kids to make these adult decisions on their own. That definitely should not happen, the parents need to be involved," he said.

On Dec. 15, the prosecutors' office will hold a forum for parents at the Union County Performing Arts Center. Reservations are required.
