NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Job prospects in New York in the first quarter of next year aren’t looking too good, according to a new report.
The ManpowerGroup is out with a sobering report that finds the net employment outlook for New York City is zero percent in the first quarter of next year, the fourth worst in the nation.
It says 13 percent of New York City employers plan to increase current staff levels next quarter, that’s down six percent from the current quarter.
Spokesman John Garofalo says there are jobs, but employers are having a difficult time finding qualified workers.
“There is a talent mismatch,” he said. “There is a lot of employers that just can’t find the talent needed and the skill set needed for their open positions.”
But prospects are strong in areas such as transportation, retail trade, financial and leisure and hospitality.
