The interior of the seal of the Shinnecock Indian Nation
SOUTHAMPTON, NY (WCBS 880) - Some factions within the Shinnecock Indian Nation feel the tribe is giving away too much to its developer and financial partner in its plan to build casinos, leading to dissension within the tribe.
WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs On The Story
Points of contention include Gateway Resort Casinos’ 28 percent take on monthly net casino revenue and concerns over the developer’s control over future tribal acquisitions.
Newsday reports tribal members will vote on its agreements with Gateway on Thursday.
A letter from Shinnecock leaders calls it the only way to bring peace back to the nation.
