NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The sounds of the season can be found in the subway, jingling all the way.
Harried commuters stop their hustle and bustle through the 34th Street subway station to tap their toes to the sounds of the season provided by Select Blendz, a group with the Music Under New York program.
1010 WINS’ Juliet Papa reports
“The best thing is when people just stop and stare they’re not expecting to have this type of music being sung,” singer Scout said.
The group of seasoned musicians, consisting of a capella, soul, R&B, and gospel singers, formed three years ago.
“We do doo-wop, R&B, we do some Elvis for fun,” Billy William Chavis said. “We try to spice it up.”
The group recently performed at the Winter’s Eve festival in Lincoln Square for the lighting of the Christmas tree in Dante Park.
But in case you missed it and you’re looking for some music to get you into the holiday spirit, all you have to do is grab your MetroCard and track Select Blendz down in the subway system.
