Giants' Ballard, Thomas Injured In First Half Against Redskins

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — New York Giants tight end Jake Ballard has left Sunday's game with the Washington Redskins with a right knee injury.

Ballard was hurt on the first play of New York's final drive of the opening half, a 15-yard gain. He limped to the sideline, and at halftime the team said Ballard will not return.

Ballard has 38 catches and four touchdowns this season, his second as a pro and first as a starter.

After the last play of the half, a Washington kickoff return, Giants receiver Devin Thomas was lifted on a stretcher and carted off. There was no immediate word on his injury, but his neck was stabilized as he was removed. Thomas was moving his legs he was attended to by trainers.
