Day After Christmas Means Government Closings And Other Changes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Since Christmas Day fell on a Sunday this year, official agencies are marking the holiday today.

Government offices in the Tri-State Area are closed today.

The post office is delivering express mail only. Self-serviec kiosks are available at the main post office, located on Eigth Avenue and 32nd Street, but there is no regular postal service.

Sunday parking rules are in effect.

Schools are closed in New York and Connecticut, but New Jersey schools have the option to close.

There's no stock and bond trading on Wall Street.

The Sanitation Department will not be making pickups or sweeping the streets.

Banks have the option to close.

Subways and buses in the city are operating on a Sunday schedule. Metro-North and NJ TRANSIT are operating on a Sunday schedule. New Jersey Bus schedules vary by route. PATH trains are operating on a Saturday schedule. The LIRR, however, is running on a regular weekday schedule.  Check traffic and transit here.
