NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly dropped in on the 75th Precinct station house late last night to pay tribute to a fallen hero.
Officer Peter Figoski worked there until his death in the line of duty two weeks ago. He was promoted to Detective posthumously.

Bloomberg and Kelly observed the roll call for the officers about to head out on what had been Figoski's midnight shift.
"Some years, Christmas isn't very merry, and I think this is one of them," Bloomberg said. "But we still have a lot to be thankful for, because of everything you guys do, for everything Pete did."
Five suspects have been charged with Figoski's killing.
Donations to a fund established to help pay for the education of Figoski's four daughters have now exceeded $1.3 million.
