Cops: Woman Sexually Assaulted After Getting Off Bus In Springfield Gardens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are looking for a suspect in the sexual assault of a woman in Springfield Gardens a day before Christmas.

The suspect, believed to be between 18 and 24-years-old, followed a 47-year-old woman off a bus near 140 Avenue and Coombs Street on Dec. 24 around 6:40 p.m. and then sexually assaulted her, police said.

The suspect, who was last seen wearing a dark colored coat, dark colored pants, white sneakers, and a black back pack, fled in a unknown direction.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

    The surveillance camera time stamp says December 23, the article says December 24. Could mean the difference between catching the real criminal and putting the wrong person in jail.
