Winter Classic Start Time Moved To 3PM Monday

PHILADELPHIA (WFAN/AP) — The Winter Classic originally scheduled for Monday 1 p.m. has been pushed back by the NHL to 3 p.m due to a change in weather conditions.

The game between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers will be played at the home of the Philadelphia Phillies, Citizens Bank Park.

The NHL said Sunday the move was made because of a revised weather forecast that should offer optimal game conditions for players and fans. The original start time would have forced the goalies to look directly into the sun.

The gates at Citizens' Bank Park will now open at 1 p.m.

Last year's game at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field was moved into prime time because of rain.  Instead, it began at 7 p.m.
