Receiver Sanu To Leave Rutgers, Enter NFL Draft
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Rutgers junior wide receiver Mohamed Sanu will enter the NFL draft after a breakout season with the Scarlet Knights.
Sanu, who shattered both Big East and Rutgers single-season records for receptions this season, finished the year with 115 catches, 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns.
“After speaking to my family and looking at the pros and cons about staying and leaving,” Sanu said Tuesday, “we feel it is best to declare.”
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Sanu is a potential first-round pick, although a deep receiver class became a little deeper Monday, after Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon declared for the draft following the Fiesta Bowl.
Sanu had double-digit receptions six times this season, and posted seven 100-yard games. Rutgers finished 9-4 after a 27-13 win over Iowa State last Friday in the Pinstripe Bowl.
