NJ Concert Promoter, Son Detained In Angola After Rapper Nas Is A No-Show

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Morris Township concert promoter claims he has been stuck in Angola for over two weeks after being abducted at gunpoint following the cancellation of a performance by the rapper Nas.

Patrick Allocco, CEO of AllGood Concerts, arranged for Nas to perform on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in the African country.

"When we got here I found out the artist, Nas, and the opening act never got on the plane to travel," Allocco told 1010 WINS. "When I arrived on the 30th, there was no act here to perform...despite the fact they had been paid."

He said after the rapper was a no-show, an infuriated local promoter, who reportedly fronted $300,000 for the concert, and the police abducted Allocco and his 22-year-old son at gunpoint.

"It's been a nightmare," Allocco said.

Allocco said he and and his son were taken into police custody and interrogated for over six hours. They are currently being kept in a hotel in Luanda and are not permitted to leave.

Allocco said his lawyer has reached a deal to secure his release for the $300,000, plus an additional $50,000 in expenses.

Nas has repaid two-thirds of the reimbursement.

"We're stuck here because the act hasn't returned all the money,"Allocco said.

Nas reportedly called off the concert due to a "miscommunication" in travel plans.

According to a report in The Miami Herald, he attended a New Year's Eve party with the Miami Heat's LeBron James.

Allocco has access to a cell phone and has been in contact with the U.S. Embassy and New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez.
