"I have been out of work for two years. Just been on the search, just been on the search," said Iraq War veteran Will Freido Romero, of the Bronx.

It is difficult, but Romero says he is not giving up.

"A lot of employers, what they tend to look at most of the time is what you've been through. They tend to judge you for that," he said.

David Tammany of the Bronx was also there in Lower Manhattan, resume in hand. He's been looking for a job for over a year.

"It shouldn't be. I mean, we all served our country, honorably and faithfully," he said.

The unemployment rate for veterans is much higher than the national rate, around 13%.

Employers like Chase, Cablevision, Greyhound, and the FDNY were at the event hoping to find employees with the discipline and drive the military instills.

MOVA commissioner Terrance Holliday says veterans have a lot to offer. "So, you're getting people who are organized. You're getting people who are disciplined. You're getting people who have to report for work at a certain time, be there," he said.
