Jury Selection In Bathtub Murder Trial May Begin This Week

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) -- Jury selection will likely begin this week in the murder trial of a New Jersey man accused of drowning his wife in a bathtub at their Morristown home three years ago.

Thirty-two-year-old Kleber Cordova, an illegal immigrant from Ecuador, also faces charges of child endangerment, witness tampering, tampering with evidence and hindering apprehension in the death of his 26-year-old wife, Eliana Torres.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Among the witnesses expected to testify in the trial is the couple's older daughter, who was 8 years old when her mother died. The girl told police she saw her parents struggle before officers arrived and that Cordova pulled Torres out of the tub.

Court officials say jury selection should start Wednesday and could take several weeks to complete.
