NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Later this month, the Port Authority will be sending out requests for design proposals for the observation deck atop the new One World Trade Center.

It will be three glass-enclosed floors – the 100th, 101st and 102nd.

“We think, frankly, that the One World Trade Center observation deck is going to be the leading observation deck experience in the world, period,” said Port Authority Executive Director Patrick Foye. “We expect there’s going to be robust interest from companies in the United States and internationally.”

Foye says this time around, there are no plans to have any of the floors open to the air.

In the old Twin Towers, the observation deck consisted of a windowed 107th floor experience and then the 110th floor experience outside on top.

Foye says he’s intent on making it a financial success for the Port Authority.

In the original world trade center, there were stairs that go all the way to the bottom of the window and you were able to touch your feet against the glass. I think you should add that in along with a Rooftop observatory, maybe around or on top of the communication ring? If you guys installed a rooftop deck it would make LOTS of money and it would feel like you were on top of the world once again.

I think you should build one on the roof just like the previous trade center. It was an eaxperience like no other. I would think it would be a better choice than to just have all of the observations from inside. you cannot bring back the original towers, then i would try to copy some of its values.
