Sign Warns Of 'SHCOOL X-NG' In Lower Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Someone needs some spelling lessons, badly.

Outside Marta Valle High School at Stanton and Suffolk streets, the crosswalk contains a bizarre warning to drivers.

"SHCOOL X-NG" reads the warning.

Of course, it should read "SCHOOL X-ING."

Looking at the street, you can see that work has been recently done under the "HC" and "X-" portions of the paint.

A crew repaired the street spelling at around noon, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported. The NYC DOT said it was an error by Con Ed, and Con Ed says it's looking into it, Jones reported.

There are three schools on the block, although the mistake was right in front of Marta Valle.
