Police Investigate Death Of 1-Year-Old Bronx Boy

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Authorities are investigating the death of a 1-year-old Bronx baby found lying on the living room floor.

Police and EMS responded to the apartment building at 667 E. 232nd St., around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and found the child, Richard Flood, unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at Montefiore Hospital.

Residents in the Williamsbridge apartment complex were in disbelief upon hearing the tragic news.

"I never think something happen like that," one woman told 1010 WINS' Terry Sheridan.

Some neighbors, however, said they often hear fighting inside the apartment.

"It's crazy. I don't know who would do that -- these kind of people, right?" said another woman.

The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, some reports indicate the boyfriend of the child's mother is being questioned.
