Victory Party? Tom Brady Hands Giants Early Bulletin-Board Fodder

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — It sounds like Tom Brady is already planning a victory party.

Packed to capacity in the lower level on one side of Gillette Stadium on Sunday, Patriots fans watched replays from the AFC championship victory that put New England in the Super Bowl.

A few minutes later, those roughly 25,000 fans sent the players off in style.

Before a spirited crowd that filled approximately one-third of Gillette Stadium, the Patriots officially began their short journey to Indianapolis by attending a free send-off rally.

LISTEN: 1010 WINS’ John Montone reports

“We wish we could take all of you guys to Indy with us,” said Brady, who will tie the record for quarterbacks with his fifth Super Bowl start. “Hopefully we’ll have a lot more people at our party next weekend.”

Party next weekend?

As in a championship parade?

Brady may have just provided the Giants some measurable bulletin-board material. In a report published by the Post last week, a handful of New York defenders admitted Brady’s pre-game “arrogance” fueled their Super Bowl XLII win.

Brady was asked about his “party” comment at the team hotel Sunday night.

“Well, it was a pep rally,” he said to laughter. “People were pretty excited.”

Following Sunday’s 13-minute program on a stage constructed at the 50-yard line, Patriots players skirted the lower level of seats on their way out of the stadium, high-fiving fans and filming the celebration along the way before boarding busses bound for the airport.

The Giants’ boarding process figures to be more low-key. According to the New York Post, Big Blue will leave on a charter flight from Newark on Monday and land in Indianapolis around 2:15 p.m.

“I want a pep rally for cryin’ out loud!” WFAN’s Craig Carton said Monday morning. “It’s embarrassing!”

New England will play New York Sunday — a little more than four years after the Giants spoiled the Patriots’ perfect season with a stunning 17-14 Super Bowl victory.

Giants fans, did Brady get under your skin with his “party” comment? Sound off below…

You guys are dumb. So what’s the difference between the gov. of NJ and the mayor of NY talking about a parade for the Giants, before the the 49er’s game started, and the Patriots rallying their fans?? Though I have to say that a parade for multimillion dollar athletes is completely absurd. Calling them heroes and giving them parades is nothing less than stupid.

    1. Women! says:

No one is asking you to attend, participate or even watch those parades on TV. You must be one of those girls who hates her boyfriend spending too much time watching football every Sunday instead of going shoe shopping with you.

This also knowing you’re a guy p8nt. Victory Parades have been part of American sports for close to a century. Stop your whining, you sound like a girl.

      1. sheep says:

sheep sheep sheep. Considering you completely missed the point of the comment, in relation to the article. sheep sheep sheep

  8. Scott Mac Millan says:

Such typical N.Y trash talk. It was a PEP rally not a funeral, these are two teams that are very similar with the exception of Eli manning who I feel is very over rated, in any case it should be a very close match.

  12. brotherd says:

I have a problem with celebratory pep rallies in your building. It looked all wrong.

The Giants keep getting gifts from the opposition and the odds-makers. The Packers repeatedly coughed up and dropped the football. They flat out didn’t come to play. They didn’t get off the bus. The Forty-Niners were ready to play and they coughed nothing up until a rookie made a bonehead mistake and then was a liability for the rest of the game. In each game, the odds-makers put the Giants in their comfort zone by picking against them. Once again this week they are underdogs in vegas, even though most TV experts will pick them to win. They don’t have to hear that because that doesn’t happen ’till game day! Now Brady says something that is innocuous, but could still be fuel for the fire for the Giants. Anger negates anxiety. Anything you do to make the opposition angry also makes them focused and sharp.

  13. Greg says:

OMG! You think Brady was counting his chickens? Are you serious?!! I’m a Giants fan and I find absolutely NOTHING wrong with his comments. My god, some of you need to take a reading comprehension course.

    1. Dorothy Mikos says:

Thanks for your comments. I’m a diei hard Giants fan living north of Boston and I find nothing wrong with what Brady said. These writers just have to make a big deal about nothing. Go Giants

  14. Brendan O says:

he did not mention a championship parade! he meant he hopes there are plenty of fans at the super bowl….what parade happens on the weekend?? you guys surely blew this out of proportion

  15. nrichard says:

i do not condone dirty play but i hope the Giants slam Brady so hard his ancestors feel it. Pretty boy does not like to get hit – so please, hit him hard and often.

  16. dan says:

nay no way the giants win anyway regardless of brady or welker the fake receiver big blue by 9 pts

  17. blair says:

Actually, Plaxico was ask to give a score and said 23-17. He never said who was 23 or who was 17. They asked him that after the game and he laughed and said they asked him for a score so he gave them one.

  18. Rick Haines says:

Read Brady’s words carefully. He said “hopefully”. I don’t think he sounded arrogant.

  19. mike says:

the giants better not count theri chickens before they hatch!!!!!!!!!!!! dont be foolishly over confident. tom brady is one of the top 3 qb’s in the league, if not the best big game qb we have seen in the past 15 years. they can put up points dont kid yourself.

  20. Vizman says:

All year long the Giants have been on the receiving end of negative comments and guarantees of becoming a “victim of prey” to various teams (ALA REX RYAN). Besides, most of the Giants players are married and have heard much worse! Does it upset us, the fans that Brady made these comments? Heck No..Keep them coming. You know the saying…”Talk SH**, Get Bit”!!! And…one more thing…Does anyone have any superbowl tickets that they are not going to use???

  21. nflgiant fan says:

i think the giants have a good chance to put up a lot of points in this super bowl against a week defensive patriot team. it’s going to be all hands on deck for the patiots granocowski will not be effective look for chad johnson to help out

  22. theregoes says:

nice to leave out where he said they’re going to “give it their best” in the same sentence. no arrogance… just media being media

  23. Meghan Ambrosino says:

  24. Joe Thompson says:

ugh … bogus media hype. There is NO revenge factor, Brady is the least arrogant QB in the NFL. Giants play to win. Don’t drink the Kool-Aid.
    Go Giants!

  25. John Caufield says:

Brady did the same thing in 2007. “We’re only going to score 17 points? OK”. No Tom it was 14. Thank you for your arrogance.

    1. chess says:

It wasn’t arrogance. If you would have asked ANYBODY in the world if they thought the Pats were only going to score 17 points they would have said the same thing.

    2. .. says:

John Caufield, YOU’RE AN IDIOT. Burress commented that the Giants would beat the Pats 23-17.

Brady was then told of this by a reporter. Brady then stated “We’re going to score 17 points” “OK, is Plax playing defense” “I wish he had said 45-42 and gave us a little credit for scoring more points”

He said this because they were 18-0 a scoring big all season. That’s not being arrogance. Remember, the Pats had the Giants beat until the miracle catch.

This all starting because Plax said the Giants would win. Was Brady supposed to say “Plax is right, the Pats will lose?

YOU’RE AN IDIOT, you heard this or read the story, but you did not understand it, next time have someone read it and explain it to you, and this coming from a diehard long time Giants fan

      1. beezins says:

Stop it with the what ifs…the Patriots are alive because the Ravens blew it. Look in the mirror.

        1. Chess says:

And the Giants are alive because San Fran blew it.

          1. ... says:

How did the Giants blow it Einstein? The game was close and the better team won. At what point did the 49ers have the game locked and then allowed the Giants to win the game Chester?

You must’ve been watching an old NFL film, got confused with the teams you saw & thinking one of them was the Giants, or you’re just an envy dumbass, believing in something that did not happen, but you believe it did.

Doctors call it Schizophrenia. Seek help Gomer, because what you will be seeing this coming Sunday will be real, you will not be hallucinating, Giants victory over the Patriots by 9 points.

If you’re a Patriots fan Forrest Gumb, you probably believe the Patriots won in ’07.

            How sad Gilligan. LOL, LOL

            1. Mike says:

              Maybe you’re suffering from amnesia.

Because if Kyle Williams doesn’t touch a punt in the fourth quarter, you’re watching the 49ers this week.

Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt.

              1. ... says:

Yeah JACK*SSES!!! (Mike & Chester) Lame excuses. fumbles, drop catches, interceptions, miss reads are all part of the game. No game is played perfect. Giants made mistake as well.

Defense cause those things to happen. You’re discrediting the Giants victory because you’re morons.

Williams fumble was caused by the Giants defense idiots. It’s not like the ball slipped from the guys hands, it was stripped. The fumble that rookie Jacquian Williams caused by reaching his large right hand into the crook of Kyle Williams’s elbow during overtime

The first one Williams was stupid in not going after the ball after it touched his knee.

Again, what f..king game were you idiots watching?

The Giants forced four straight three-and-out San Francisco possessions at the end of the game — those special-teams plays saved the Giants’ season.

If the Queen had balls, she be King.

My guess here is you idiots play those NFL video games and think that sh.t is real. Both you guys must wear special helmets.

            2. chess says:

It’s exactly what Mike said below. No William’s fumble, no Giants Super Bowl. Easy as that.

  26. Arkius says:

No. It’s a pep rally; what do you expect him to say? It’ would be very difficult to say something “peppy” and not offend the other team.
