Jack O’Riley, 28, and Diane Lewis, 48, were the third-floor residents who went into their neighbor’s apartment after hearing her in the hallway with her children and tried to douse the smoke they saw near a window with first sugar, then flour and, finally, water… Unfortunately you can’t douse smoke … Also unfortunately they didn’t apply the ingredients to the flames … they would have ended up with a cake. I hope the injured recuperate quickly. Thankfully no one was killed in this disaster.
