NJ Educator Quits Amid Accusations He Secretely Recorded Teens In Shower

BERNARDSVILLE, N.J. (AP) — A northern New Jersey educator accused of secretly videotaping teenage boys in the shower at a Catholic high school has quit his administrative job with a public school district.

Somerset Hills Regional School District Superintendent Peter Miller says Patrick Lott’s resignation was accepted Thursday during a special board of education meeting.

The 54-year-old Lott was an assistant principal at the Bernardsville Middle School. But he had been placed on an unpaid leave of absence after being arrested last December.

His resignation took effect on Jan. 27.

Somerset County prosecutors say Lott videotaped students in a communal shower area at Immaculata High School in Somerville, starting in January 2008. Authorities say there were 22 victims, including nine boys who are under the age of 16.

Lott remains jailed on $500,000 bail.

Oh, Ema, I just noticed the headline, where “secretly” is indeed spelled incorrectly, but it’s correctly spelled in the text, which is where I noticed it.

Ema, “secretly” seems to be spelled correctly, unless they changed it in a later post (this happened once when I pointed out an error in a Yahoo post & I noticed it had changed when I accessed the page an hour or so later). As for Rurbanite, I have to agree, but especially in cases such as this where the public has the right to see a pix of the perp.

what kind of journalism is this–posting generic, stock pictures of jail cells is not acceptable in my book…you should have a picture related directly to the story…i am seeing this crop up all the time now…out of laziness and cost-cutting

  4. Ema says:

Is it REALLY possible that CBSNY doesnt know how to spell ‘secretly’????
