Cut Tiquan Underwood Wishes Patriots Good Luck

INDIANAPOLIS (WFAN/AP) — Tiquan Underwood is wishing the New England Patriots good luck after they cut him on the eve of the Super Bowl.

If they win, the wide receiver who had three catches this season for a total of 30 yards would be eligible for a championship ring.

Underwood tweeted that he would use his release as motivation, thanked his supporters and wished the Patriots luck. The team filled his roster spot for Sunday's game against the New York Giants with defensive end Alex Silvestro.

Both played college ball for Rutgers.

Underwood tweeted: "Im Fine, This Will Only Make Me Stronger...Tough Times Never Last But Tough Ppl Do."

He went as far as having the Patriots' logo shaved into the back of his head before the Super Bowl and was showing it off during media day.

Underwood's release increased the likelihood that wide receiver Chad Ochocinco would be active Sunday after being inactive for the AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Some NFL analysts are selecting Ochocinco as a possible dark horse candidate to have a big game at Super Bowl XLVI.  The move could turn out to be justified if Ochocinco helps New England defeat the Giants in Indianapolis.
