3 Food Markets Pop Up For Valentine's Day In New York City

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The countdown has begun for many of New York City's couples--what are they going to get their foodie love interest for this upcoming Valentine's Day?
A few food markets are popping up around town this weekend with a few treats and the perfect gifts for New York gourmands.

The wonderful New Amsterdam Market is returning from its winter vacation just for their Valentine's Gift Shop. It will be set up on both Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 213 Water Street.
Not only will they feature excellent vendors like Princeton's Bent Spoon ice cream shop, macarons from Jaune, jams and marmalades from local favorite Anarchy in a Jar, and pie from Pie Corps--there will also be an authentic soda fountain operated by Brooklyn's P&H Soda along with Bent Spoon. Get ready to share an old-fashioned egg cream, egg float, or an ice cream float.

For those in Brooklyn, there are two markets that will be open for weekend fun and gift-hunting.
The first is on Saturday in Greenpoint. The Greenpointers will be throwing the Love Birds Valentine's Market on Saturday,12:00 - 5:00 p.m.in the Church of the Messiah at 129 Russell Street. There will be musical acts, free horoscope readings, love letter writing, and a photo booth, plus vendor selling delicious goodies.
Some of those goodies include the ethereal marshmallows from Kitty Lee Thomas Sweets, homemade fudge and caramels from Gretchen & Grizelda's Goodies, ginger syrup from Morris Kitchen, and "so delicious you won't care it's vegan" faux gras from Regal Vegan. All the essentials needed for a romantic homemade Valentine's dinner.
On Sunday, Williamsburg will be where to find the Vegan Shop-Up from noon-6pm in the Pine Box Rock Shop at 12 Grattan Street. Of course, all the vendors here will be vegan, selling animal-friendly products like faux-suede riding boots and organic clothing.
Treats include the fantastic jams from The Jam Stand, chocolate bars and bon-bons from Rescue Chocolate, buckeyes from The Bake Easy, and delicious truffles and caramels from Super Foxy Sweets.
