New York (1010 WINS)  The 136th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show barks its way into the Big Apple this week, with the purebreeds strutting their stuff at Madison Square Garden.  But before they name Best In Show, a pre-show party and fashion show was held to benefit New York City shelter animals.

Sponsored in part by Cesar's Way magazine at the Penn Top Ballroom at the pet-friendly Hotel Pennsylvania, it featured several "puptual" wedding ceremonies officiated by Karen & Eli Biehl from the TV reality series "Doggie Moms", along with an appearance from Prince Lorenzo Borghese of ABC's "The Bachelor" fame, whose company Royal Pet Club supports animal rescue.

Among the dogs taking part in the fashion show, which had a Venetian masquerade theme by Ada Nieves, were "Paul Newman" a professional Dog Actor who donates half of what he earns to Basset Hound Rescue, "Chewee" the Leonberger who just finished two seasons on stage as Sandy in a production of "Annie", and "Toshi", a doggie model recently featured in a Mastercard TV commercial.  The show also featured dachshunds Joey and Zoey and mixed breed Colin, all rescues from Animal Care & Control of New York.  A portion of the proceeds from the event were donated to ACC.
