Craig asked Jerry, Eddie and Al to do their best and recreate Mike Breen’s call of Jeremy Lin’s game-winning three pointer in the closing seconds of last night’s thrilling Knicks victory.
We learned quickly that the trio’s best was… not very good.
Then, just after 8 a.m., Boomer & Craig we joined by the Mets’ new radio play-by-play man Josh Lewin. Lewin, who previously worked for the Texas Rangers as their TV PBP man, sounded very excited to join Howie Rose in the booth for the upcoming season.
While ‘researching’ for the interview, the guys noticed that Lewin sounds an awful lot like the voice heard in the ‘opening day and here’s the first pitch – and the seasons over’ drop Craig often likes to play when talking about the ‘Not So Amazin’ Mets. Lewin explained that, although he is a big fan of the Family Guy (which is where the drop originated from), it is not his voice that is heard.
Lewin also mentioned his taint, which prompted Craig to inform him that what he does on his own time is entirely up to him.
All in all I think it was a pretty nice welcome mat Boomer & Craig laid out for Lewin and we all look forward to hearing his calling Mets games on WFAN Radio for years to come…
