Police: Queens Suspects Impersonated Officers Before Conducting Armed Robbery

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are asking for the public’s help to find and identify three suspects wanted in an armed robbery in which they allegedly impersonated police officers.

The incident happened in Queens on Tuesday around 8:10 a.m. Police said the three men entered a Pay-O-Matic check cashing business on South Conduit Avenue. They identified themselves as detectives before taking cash.

The suspects then fled in a dark colored, late 90’s-model Ford Expedition. Authorities said that vehicle had a broken rear passenger window that was covered by black plastic and secured with silver-colored duct tape. The vehicle may have had Virginia license plates.

The suspects are all described as white males, who were blue jackets with an embroidered “NYPD” logo. They also had police-type shields hanging around their necks. Two of the suspects were wearing blue jeans, one was wearing tan khaki pants. All of them wore sunglasses and two suspects also wore New York Yankees baseball caps, police said.
