Police Investigate Bank Robbery In Ronkonkoma

RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A bank robber struck against a Capital One Bank branch in Suffolk County Saturday.

Suffolk County Police say the crime happened at 131 Portion Road around 1:58 p.m.

Authorities say a man entered the bank and showed a teller a note that demanded cash and indicated a threat if the teller did not comply.

After the teller handed over money, the suspect fled on foot and headed east towards a Kohl's Department Store.

Police describe the suspect as a white or Hispanic man in his 20s, standing between 5'6" and 5'8" and wearing a classic Yankees hat, dark windbreaker and sunglasses.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392, call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
