His four 11th row seats to tonight's New York Knicks game cost $42,000.

"Your wife got you this wonderful gift?" WCBS 880 reporter Marla Diamond said to him on Wednesday.

"She was going to make it a surprise, but then she knew that it might be too much, because as it was, I couldn't breathe," he said.

When she told him about it, it was still news to him.

"It was a complete surprise. I was completely unaware of it," he said.

The Spring Valley defense attorney also gets to meet Jeremy Lin and will get the signed jersey Lin wore when he beat the Los Angeles Lakers with 38 points.

"I'll never wear it," he said. "I'm just going to look at it."

The once in a lifetime gift is for charity. The proceeds benefit Madison Square Garden's Gardens of Dreams Foundation for ill children.

His wife Pamela scored the prize on an action at charitybuzz.com.

"I'm hoping that this donation makes other people's dreams come true because it's made mine," said Mitchell Schecter.

He is, like many others, enamored by Lin's underdog story.

"I was never the handsomest guy in the room. So, I always had to try extra hard," he said.
