Police Make Arrest In Shooting Of 8-Year-Old Boy At Bronx Deli

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police said they have arrested a teenage suspect in the shooting of an 8-year-old boy at a Bronx deli earlier this week.

Friday night, 15-year-old Eduardo Rodriguez was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, Armando Bigo had walked into Papa Yala's Deli and Grocery Inc. in the Soundview section with his mother and picked up a bag of chips when a bullet struck his shoulder.

Bodega owner Mahmood Abdulrub said the boy's mother became "very nervous" and "didn't know how to react" when she realized her son had been shot. He said the boy even apologized for bleeding on his floor.

Bigo remains at Jacobi Hospital and police said he was not the intended target.
