Gary Carter's Funeral Live On CBSNewYork.com

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla -  (WFAN) -- Family, friends and former teammates are gathering to say goodbye to Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter at tonight's memorial.  Fans of the Mets great can watch the service online via CBSNewYork.com live from The Christ Fellowship Church.

A key cog in the Mets' 1986 championship team, Carter died last Thursday after a battle with brain cancer. He was 57. Carter was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor last May, two weeks after finishing his second season coaching at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Longtime Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said Carter died at a hospice in the West Palm Beach, Fla., area.

."The Kid," a beloved 11-time All-Star, played most of his career with New York and Montreal. He was inducted to Cooperstown in 2003 as an Expo.

In lieu of flowers, the Carter family has requested that donations be made to The Gary Carter Foundation, 580 Village Blvd., Suite 315, West Palm Beach, FL, 33409. Donations will go to support the Autism Project of Palm Beach County, Hospice of Palm Beach County and Palm Beach Atlantic University Baseball.
