Mets Will Wear Patch To Honor Carter

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — The New York Mets will wear a patch on their uniforms this year to honor Gary Carter.

The Hall of Fame catcher died this month. Carter played five seasons with the Mets and helped them win the 1986 World Series.

The Mets said Sunday that they will wear the symbol for all games this year, starting in spring training. The patch will feature a black home plate with Carter's jersey number 8 in white, along with his nickname of "Kid."
