Chicken McNugget Resembling George Washington Sells For $8,100 On eBay

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Watch your nuggets, New York.

Three years ago, an eagle-eyed Nebraska woman spotted a McDonald's Chicken McNugget that she thought resembled George Washington. Rebekah Speight kept it, tossing it in the freezer, breaking it out to show to amused guests.

Speight ultimately posted the nugget on eBay as part of an effort to raise money for a church camp. She started the bidding at $100.

It fetched $8,100.

The Internet being what it is, imitators have sprung up.

Currently for sale on eBay, a "Jay Leno" McNugget, a Keith Richards look-alike pepper, and "President Eggraham Lincoln," which is a hard-boiled egg sporting a felt beard and hat.

Meanwhile, reaction to the sale has people talking on CBSNewYork's Facebook page.

"Wow $8,100 for one McNugget. I know of a place where you can get four (yes four) for only 99 cents. You read that right and I'm not kidding, only 99 cents!" wrote Carlos Navarro.

"I saw a vanilla wafer resembling Gov. Christie," wrote John Koz.

"I don't want to live on this planet anymore," wrote Dave Fretz.
