Transformer Fire Breaks Out In Midtown Building
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two people have been taken to the hospital following a transformer fire on Manhattan's West Side .
The FDNY said 2,500 people were evacuated after the fire broke out shortly after 12 p.m. Thursday at an 13-story building on West 33rd Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

Officials said 18 people, including some firefighters, had to be treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Two other people were taken to Bellevue Hospital for smoke inhalation.
A Con Edison spokesman said a transformer under the sidewalk blew, creating a heavy smoke condition.
