NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It’s not clear how it started, but who could resist the idea of celebrating National Meatball Day?

Jeremy’s eating at the Meatball Shop Restaurant in Brooklyn. “If you think about a meatball it kind of, like, perfectly shaped and having four meatballs is, like, the perfect amount, ” (said Jeremy).

And Owner and Chef Daniel Holzman loves getting creative on special days. “We have jingle balls for Christmas, which are 100 percent reindeer meat, because Santa’s little helpers, um,  taste great after the holidays – they have to retire somehow. We’ve got bunny balls for Easter,” said Holzman.

The cozy comfort food has gone gourmet.

“We have 54 different kinds and counting. It was 53 until yesterday when we unveiled our gluten free meatball for National Meatball Day, ” (said Holzman).

They’ve also got vegetarian lentil balls, so there’s no excuse not to celebrate.

N.J. Gov. Fatso calls National Meatball Day, ‘The single most important event of my entire year.’ at a Town Hall Meeting. He went on to say that in addition to meatballs, he is also addicted to all fried food, lard, Hagan Daz and anything that’s made with a high quantity of butter fat. He is proud to be morbidly obese as well as arrogant and obnoxious. He says the middle class is overpaid and believes that he is royalty and should be given everything for nothing. He also hates being called ‘Puglsey’ and ‘Chubsie-Ubbsie’.
