SPCA: Remains Of Decapitated Animals Found Near Deer Park Train Station

DEER PARK, NY (CBSNewYork) -- The Suffolk County SPCA is investigating after animal parts were found in the Deer Park area.

SPCA officials say 12 black plastic garbage bags filled with the remains of goats, chickens and roosters were found on Long Island Avenue near Executive Drive between Commack Road and the Deer Park train station.

Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk SPCA, said workers cleaning around the train station made the gruesome discovery.

"All of the animals were decapitated," Gross said. "Approximately 20 in all."

He said it appears that the animal remains were dumped at various times in recent weeks.

"This may have occurred over a period of time, that these parts were dumped there, because of the different states of decomposition," he said.

Anyone with information should call the SPCA at 631.382.7722.  All calls will be kept confidential.
