The trouble is that the gas stations that give the discounts are generally higher priced to begin with….I think you can do better at an off-brand station without any discount. In NJ there is a site: where you can search for the best local prices.

    1. Robert says:

OMT- 95% of vehicles run just fine on regular gas…only use the higher grades if the vehicle requires it…when most people use high-test they’re just lining the pockets of the station owner…The spread between the grades is very small at wholesale…nowhere near the difference between the regular and premium at the pump…The regular just pays the rent…the premium is the profit.

    2. Robert says:

OMT2- Rebate credit cards were a good deal until gas stations went to cash/credit pricing..and with the 10 cents per gallon tacked on for credit cards…you don’t break even, let alone save money.

We have to leave on gas and convert to electric power.

The trouble with battery powered vehicles is that the battery starts to die the minute you drive off the lot….and they are very expensive to replace..offsetting all the savings up to that point. I believe that people are better off buying a high effiency diesel vehicle.
