Oprah Winfrey Honored With Lifetime Leadership Award

NEW YORK (AP) — Oprah Winfrey was honored with a “Lifetime Leadership” award at the third annual DVF Awards.

Winfrey was hugged by longtime friend, designer and humanitarian Diane von Furstenberg, as she took the stage to accept the accolade on Friday night.

Von Furstenberg called Winfrey the “most formidable person I have ever met in my life.”

Winfrey spent much of her speech honoring another of the night’s award winners, Jaycee Dugard. Dugard was abducted when she was 11 and held against her will for 18 years.

Dugard took the stage soon after and got emotional as she thanked her mother for never giving up hope of finding her. She also spoke about her JAYC Foundation, which supports families dealing with abduction and other tragedies.

Susan the same thing happened to me when I met Kathie Lee Gifford years ago. She was screaming and cussing at her nanny to a point that she cried. I told her to back off and she said do you know who I am? I said yeah a nobody who thinks they have talent.

i will never understand why oprah winfrey hs been turned into “saint oprah”by so many people…i met the woman several years ago when she was doing a promotional tour for her then new tv talk show..i was an airline employee and she was flying out on our airline..i had the “priviledge” (and i say that with sarcasm)of seating her and her entourage in first class..she was a true “diva”..rude and demanding, and rather than say thank you for anything, she treated us as if we were her paid servants..thats the oprah i know, and first impressions are lasting ones..if she treated airline personnel that way, how must she treat others??i think all of her grand giveaways and and anything else is for the power and glory of oprah!!!

You have and still inspire many of us world over. You are an inspiration to many and hope too to all who have despaired. Thank you for knowing you in my life.
Will on the 29th March be receiving ‘ A woman of Courage ‘ by the American Embassy. Any guidance as to what should I consider when compiling and drafting my speech? Your guidance is highly anticipated and appreciated too.
