Sound Off: Photos Of Donald Trump’s Sons Big Game Hunting Surface Online

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Photos have surfaced online of Donald Trump‘s sons Eric and Donald, Jr. enjoying a big game hunt in Zimbabwe in August 2010.

One of the photos depicts the brothers standing side by side, with Eric hoisting the carcass of a leopard.

Another photo depicts Donald Trump Jr. standing with a knife and the severed tail of an elephant. Another shows Donald Trump, Jr. leaning against the carcass of a cape buffalo.

A compilation video of the images was posted to YouTube.

The photos originated on the Hunting Legends website. Hunting Legends organizes big game hunts in Africa. The company confirmed in an email to that the Trumps went for 10 days. They did not disclose the cost of the hunt.

“We are both avid outdoorsmen and were brought up hunting and fishing with our Grandfather who taught us that nothing should ever be taken for granted or wasted,” Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump said in a statement. “We have the utmost respect for nature and have always hunted in accordance with local laws and regulations. In addition, all meat was donated to local villagers who were incredibly grateful. We love traveling and being in the woods – at the end of the day, we are outdoorsmen at heart.”

PETA took issue with the hunt, releasing the following statement:

“If the young Trumps are looking for a thrill, perhaps they should consider skydiving, bungee jumping, or even following in their anti-hunting father’s footsteps and taking down competing businesses—not wild animals. Like all animals, elephants, buffalo, and crocodiles deserve better than to be killed and hacked apart for two young millionaires’ grisly photo opportunity. If the Trumps want to help villagers, they have plenty of resources at their disposal.”

“All of the animals which were hunted went to local communities and villagers who benefit from such hunting safaris,” said Phillip J. Mostert of Hunting Legends Africa in an email. Mostert said the areas the hunt took place were “legal, ethical and fair chase.”

“If more people like the Trumps put their money where their mouths are, the world will be a better place,” Mostert wrote. Mostert went on to explain his view that hunting in approved areas in the fashion his company does combats poaching and benefits local villages.

“The very presence of international trophy hunters in these remote and undeveloped areas is the only reason why conservation is winning the battle against extinction,” Mostert wrote. “Not only man benefits from this, but nature at large, because these vast and… extremely remote areas are now being protected by even the local villagers themselves, to to mention governments and outfitters such as ourselves.”

“Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric deserve to be praised for their contribution towards conservation through ethical and sustainable hunting, not hung out in public and belittled,” he added.

when can we hunt his father???That would be a good hunt,Shoot The Millionaire Hunting Club.

  2. JoeFriday says:

The Trumps guns would be of better service hunting welfare recipients. Now there’s a parasitical class of animals that deserves to be hunted to extinction.

  3. JoeFriday says:

You can at least eat a buffalo, but what in the world is going to do with a dead croc and elephant??

    1. Bobo says:

People eat croc & elephant. Now you know more than you did when you woke up this morning.

  4. T says:

What a great honor to hunt in Africa!

    1. George Gonzales says:

Now even you can have fun like this, make extra cash @ home just check out my website makecash30com

  5. native says:

“fair hunt” yeah right, night vison scope, high power guns against a defenseless animal, sure sounds “fair”
    Stupid ugly animal murdering morons.

    1. MTAmorons says:

Youre an idiot they don’t use “night vision” and maybe you’d like to slaughter your own cow, you jackass. Oh you’re a “vegetarian”? WHAT ABOUT THE SCREAMING OF THE PLANTS, you jackass.

In nature, animals EAT EACH OTHER ALIVE. hunters go for quick kill, the hunts are regulated to ensure game #s are kept up, the meat goes to POOR PEOPLE, and the fees go the parks.

You must be a stupid democrat.

      1. CitizenKane says:

Natural predation can be cruel but it doesn’t cause biological and ecological damage as do wildlife management policies and hunters.
While hunters may * try* to go for the quick kill, it’s estimated that 35% of the deer who are shot, escape wounded (The Michigan Journal of Wildlife), and bow hunting produces a 50% wounding rate.
Also, hunters kill the biggest and healthiest animals, leaving the smaller and congenitally weak, creating an inferior gene pool.

Exotic wildlife is in danger due to poaching, hunting for trophies and parts for Chinese medicine/ivory, and abducting wildlife for the exotic pet trade. This hunt was legal but within a system of endemic corruption that is threatening Zimbabwe’s wildlife.

And the Trumps saying they just wanted to help feed the villagers was just a lame RP attempt at damage control.
If they wanted to help, they could build a hospital, give money for conservation efforts, or just donate a few million.

The chairman of the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force, Johnny Rodriques said the Matesi reserve was so sparsely populated, the meat was unlikely to benefit anyone. He also said that there was no transparency about where the money goes from the hunters, and there were much better ways to help the people.

Here’s a study showing liberals are smarter than conservatives, and could be a reason you think plants suffer when eaten.,8599,1968042,00.html

    2. JoeFriday says:

it’s much more fair to get your defenseless animal already nicely butchered and wrapped up in the meat section of a supermarket.

    3. Bobo says:

      You’re an idiot.

  6. Jim says:

I hunt, I grew up hunting to supplement the family’s table fare. We also raised, butchered and processed our own food. We didn’t trophy hunt. We respected the animals and provided conservation for them year around. We did have heads on the wall, but it was out of respect. I don’t think non-hunters would understand. My Dad and I always wanted to go to Africa, but Dad said and I agreed that if we did we would bring a camera and leave the guns at home. That being said, these hunts are controlled by professional hunters, and animals, like elephants, that are being taken are usually at the request of the game authorities. As I understand it, the hunter’s are not the problem but the encroachment of animals native range by humans is. Perhaps helping the 3rd world develop and ascend to lower birth rates is what we can do to help the animals of Africa. These guys should have left the pictures in a album. Some days I miss a regular camera.

  7. Stephanie says:

Put your guns down and THEN let’s see a real hunt :!The Trumps aganist the animals.. These small minded idiots wouldn’t stand a chance if it were a fair fight. Do they know how to wrestle a croc? I doubt it. These idiots wouldn’t stand a chance. Going into a fenced off arena filled with animals and blasting these beautiful creatures with a shotgun and stabbing them with knives is not a sport, it doesn’t require skill and it’s barbaric. So glad my husband doesn’t enjoy murdering animals.

    1. MTAmorons says:

I’d like to see you strangled by a vine, you dumb vegetarian.

PS – You husband know you use the computer, missy?

  8. Pablopayne says:

    Big guns, little …

  9. sah says:

DISGUSTING! Killing these fine beautiful animals. Hunting on a sanctuary..can get much lower than that. Hope it makes the Trump babies feel like big men.

    1. JoeFriday says:

Yes it is truly disgusting shooting a couple of animals. Meanwhile, excuse me while I buy some 100 lbs of nice factory-farmed steaks, chicken, and lamb every year.

      1. Vic says:

What the hell is your problem? You know, cows are not endangered. Chickens, last time I checked, are not endangered. But when an animal population that once used to be in the thousands has dwindled down into maybe the hundreds, if that….hunting them should be taken seriously.

If you think it’s a joke people are upset about hunting endangered animals, then maybe you should check yourself.

By the way, JoeFriday, when you get around to hunting me those wild chickens I’d like them laid down on my doorway because that’s how you roll, right? Super fresh? I expect speed too, since you mention it takes a millisecond for an elephant to die with your handiwork.

        1. Bobo says:

You’re an idiot. These animals aren’t endangered either. Get back under your rock, gutter-dweller.

  10. PETE says:

If you have too much money and no aim in life, what can you do to look like a man? You go to Africa on one of these hi-priced escorted Safari Tours, hide behind a big rock, and shoot at everything with a Canon that is chased by you by some cheap help. If you want to be a man, take a knife from your mother’s kitchen and go to Alaska to hunt a couple of Grizzly Bears. Or go to the Arctic and shake hands with a Polar Bear, or go to South Africa, dive into the sea, and say Hello to some Gray-Whites, which probably are waiting for you jerks, who are No Good anyway, but probably Taste Good!!

  11. Janice Engle says:

I am curious about the part where it said they cut off an elephant’s tail. WHAT are they doing killing elephants?? SURELY that’s illegal. What did they do with the ivory? Hmmm.

    1. Bobo says:

There was no ivory, stupid. It’s not illegal to kill elephants in that particular area. Now you know more than you did when you woke up this morning, however you’re obviously not smart enough to do anything with this new-found information.

  12. Captain Obvious says:

    If you enjoy hunting, hunt.

If you don’t enjoy hunting, don’t hunt.

If you don’t enjoy hunting, shut the f#@* up and leave alone those who do.

The only time a non hunter should complain, is when someone who enjoys hunting, tries to force them to also enjoy hunting. But, you don’t see that happen very often, do you?

    1. Tom says:

      Very well said.

    2. Asla says:

@ Captain Obvious – Your argument is not thought through very well. If you follow your so-called ‘logic’, you could also say that if you enjoy destroying the environment, destroy the environment, but if you don’t, don’t and shut up and leave those who do, alone.
      Think much?

      1. JoeFriday says:

asla (what an unfortunate name), your argument is the one that is not well thought out. You are trying to create an equivalency between a legal act (hunting) and a possibly illegal act (destroying the environment). Do YOU think much?

        1. Captain Obvious says:

Thank you JF. Could not have said it better. If the hunt was illegal, I would have been the first to protest.

Asla, do you drive a car? Do you ride a bus? Do you eat (heaven forbid) meat? Guess, what? You are destroying the environment too.

          1. CitizenKane says:

Just because this hunt was legal did not make it ecologically sound or sustainable – and environmental groups do not think it was either one.
Here’s an article outlining the corruption that allows Americans to kill threatened or endangered animals in Zimbabwe.

Hunting a species that is vulnerable to extinction, damages the balance of the ecosystem and the environment, therefore this hunting is no different than ecological/environmental destruction.

In the US, wildlife polices and hunters decimate both wildlife and the environment, using taxpayer money. The majority – who are non-hunters and against trophy hunting – have a right to demand that cruel hunting practices (trophy and sport hunting, canned hunts, bear baiting, hound hunting) be banned.

            1. Bobo says:

              You’re an idiot. ‘nuf said.

  13. JIM says:

    1. MNA says:

hunting with a bow and arrow or cross bow is an even more horrific and slower death for the animal.

    2. JoeFriday says:

Jim, every second of every day somewhere there is a living thing being hunted. A wolf pack hunting deer or elk, a hawk hunting squirrels, a chimpanzee troupe hunting monkeys and ripping them apart with their bare hands. Guess what? None of the prey animals have the same “resources and skill with the same defences” as the hunter. And guess what else? In nature the death of the prey is often much, much more painful than getting shot.

  14. Rogers2012 says:

Lighten up folks. This is mild compared to what nature causes animals to endure when attacked by other animals.

Go on Youtube and look for images of lions killing other animals. Talk about cruelty. At least a bullet is fast, getting eaten alive is far more revolting.

People like to think that the jungle, the wild is where animals live free, have lots of food, have nothing to fear etc. Grow up. This is Darwinism at work. If you believe in survival of the fittest, you either believe it or you don’t.

I think muslims using their “religion” to justify dismembering people for crimes, or stoning women is FAR more reprehensible and disgusting.

    1. Gary says:

It’s going to be awesome when humans are the only organisms left on this planet!!!

      1. JoeFriday says:

Gary, if you want to ensure the survival of an animal species, then the most effective two ways to do it are: 1 – farm it for food, and 2 – make it regulated hunting game. In both cases the profit motive will ensure that there are lots and lots of tasty critters.

        1. Gary says:

          A) Most wild species of animals are not a viable food source, i.e. a majority of vertebrates consist of small birds and fish. So apparently the only way to save species like the spotted owl is to eat it??? righttt
          B) Appropriate population dynamics must be taken into account using geometric and exponential pop. growth models to ensure that there is a sustainable population for harvesting. Example being the closure of salmon harvest across the western United States due to non-sustainable pop. sizes.
But what do I know, I’m just a Wildlife biologist, you must be too

          1. Bobo says:

You’re an idiot. Small birds and fish are eaten all the time. You’re also no wildlife biologist. You’re a lying idiot.

    2. Bridget says:

Do even know how long it takes for an elephant do die? It takes HOURS!!!! THAT’S CRUEL!!!! PERIOD!!!!

      1. Brian says:

Bridget you really don`t have a clue, do you?
What do you do for a living, nails?

      2. JoeFriday says:

It only takes a millisecond for an elephant to die if you get a nice headshot with the right gun.

  15. KLG says:

Only a very stupid person would feel a sense of fulfillment by senseless killing of this nature! Shame on them and shame on the whole Trump family for funding and supporting it!!!

    1. Bobo says:

Only a very VERY stupid person would make a statement like you just did.

  16. Konstantin says:

Why don’t you try killing it with nothing but your hands? a real tough guy with your gun…

    1. Brian says:

      Said while eating KFC…

  17. Cheyenne says:

Pretty-boys. Polished nails and slicked-back hair. Hunting outfits purchased on Madison ave. A group of heavily-armed men close-by to save their sorry asses if they get into trouble. Yeah….real brave.
This is probably the first time either of these two have actually gotten a sweat from being out in the sun and not under a tanning bed.
    They make me sick.

    1. Tony says:

      you are so ignorant.

      1. Friend of Animals says:

oops…..I do NOT agree with Tony I DO agree with Cheyenne

      2. Vic says:

Uh-oh, did someone have to break out the Oxford Dictionary to use that treacherous language?

I guess not, because what’s truly “ignorant” is that their billionaire father is defending their actions while he remains anti-hunting.

    2. Friend of Animals says:

      I agree totally!!!

    3. JoeFriday says:

Cheyenne, you sound jealous that you can’t afford to shop on Madison avenue. I bet the Trumps aren’t very concerned about whether they make you sick.

    4. Bobo says:

And still, more of a man than you.

  18. geno says:

someone should give those the same consideration they ga ve the animals. i,d like to see how they,de like being shot at

  19. Abe says:

To be fair, if Trump’s brothers could hunt down those wild lives without firing any bullet or simply use a spear or machete than I’ll give them props and would agree this is a SPORT. What’s the fun when you use an automatic weapon to kill those animals who don’t even want to bother you?

  20. Friend of Animals says:

  21. Way to Go Don says:

Don Jr – Nice job with that buffalo. were you able to ship the head home to have it mounted?

    1. Bridget says:

let’s mount you’re head and see how you like it

      1. Brian says:

        Said while eating a cheesburger….

        1. Vic says:

Said while eating a cheeseburger himself hiding behind a computer while playing hunting video-games. So hardcore dude!

  22. New Jersey Man says:

Well Donald Trump has no respect for poor or middle-class people, the only people he ingratiates himself to are billionaires and the super-rich, and now we find out his son’s have no respect for animals, and they find it very easy to kill them for trophies. Like father, like sons. They are both a-holes to me.

    1. Vic says:

Here here now, why should they care what the small people think? According to JoeFriday and Brian, we should be laughably ignorant while the Trump Turds spend cash money on Madison Avenue and search out big game in the wild that are on the edge of extinction or vulnerable in numbers. And rightly so, because they are real men, and real men kill their own meat and then offer it to grateful villagers that have never hunted or managed to get any food on their own, up until that fateful moment.

      Right? Right.

    2. Bobo says:

But since you’re a loser, your opinion doesn’t matter. Back to the gutter with you. You’re not a man.

  23. Don't judge! says:

First of all, don’t blame the Trumps, blame the company that makes this kind of thing available to rich people. Second of all, if you think killing animals is so wrong, then outlaw it here in the US! What about deer hunting or bear hunting, or even duck hunting? I’m against ALL of that! I think it’s cruel to kill anything for sport. However, if you’re killing it and eating it, that makes it OK, right? So, if they gave the meat to local villagers to be eaten and nothing ws wasted, why are you berating them? Oh, because these animals are “exotic”? Guess what? Maybe bears are “exotic” to the African people and they would be appalled that we kill them. If this was done according to the laws and regulations of that country, then let it go and let people spend their hard earned money however they see fit. Get off your butts and make a few million dollars and then let’s see what you will spend it on!

    1. sorry, you're wrong. says:

no one forced the trump boys to take this wonderful killing vacation. they did it themselves. they sought it out and paid for it and did it. they have to take full responsibility for their actions. whoever you are, please don’t assume that no one here who responds on this board does not have “”a few million dollars”. my friend, you would be mistaken. not everyone finds thrills in killing animals. some of us like just like to write.

      1. Bobo says:

Even though you have nothing useful to add. Back to the gutter with you…

  24. Peep says:

It’s good to have cash just to throw away. Plus, why would you want to hunt animals just for sport.

    1. Brian says:

Because it`s great fun, Peep, great fun…

  25. Father mc says:

    Good for them

    1. Mari N says:

too bad they can’t come and hunt you and stick a bullet up ur Azz

      1. Brian says:

Yeah, too bad…cause that`d mean THEY could do you too, huh?

        1. Vic says:

          Preferably yours.

  26. Michele says:

Are not leopards considered to be endangered? Would it have mattered to these ‘boys’ if they are? So wrong these actions cannot be justified, There are courageous and dedicate Africans putting their lives on the lline against poachers to protect elephants, gorillas, big cats, and other wildlife and these two rich white losers go out and kill some for fun? This type of hunting does not really “help” the local popluation if that is the supposed justification. Has anyone asked how much cash for r this “hunt” was fuinneled to Mugabe? – One has to wonder how much cash was given to a government that has destroyed it’s own resources and is starving it’s own people for this “laubable” endeavour. Stupid, misguided, and cruel – of course these boys are proud.

    1. Bobo says:

You don’t know squat about the situation, idiot. This type of hunting helps the local economy tremendously. You’re just another uneducated, obnoxious pig with more mouth than brain. These particular animals are NOT endangered.

The real world is a big, interesting place. And dangerous too. If you’d get off your sissy butt and check it out you’d learn that.

  27. VY says:

I guess this is what rich people do when they are not interested in cocain.

  28. losers... says:

…with too much money to waste and no respect for living things.
