NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - We have barely had any snow this winter and while that has been a good thing for cities that didn’t have to spend money on cleanup, it’s been tough for those who make their money on winter.

WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs On The Story

No snow means no sales for those in the winter fun business, like at the Sno-Haus Ski Shop in Huntington.

“Come December when it was still 60 degrees outside and January, and here it is March and it’s 70, obviously sales were down,” said manager Chris Peska.

Peska didn’t want to talk about how down it’s been, but she admits it’s one of the worse in recent years.

There is, of course, a positive side to the no snow season.

“People can benefit now with the sales going on that we have more inventory than normal at this time of year,” she said. “There’s plenty of equipment to buy and the prices are great.”

She suggests you stock up now for next winter.
