NYPD: Suspect Wanted For Robbing Food Carts In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are searching for a suspect who they say is wanted for robbing food carts.

The NYPD released surveillance video of a man they say is suspected of robbing vendors eight times in the last two weeks, mostly in Elmhurst, Queens.

1010 WINS Carol D’Auria reports

Most of the robberies happened between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.

Police say the suspect shows a gun, demands money and then takes off. Cops say he’s also wanted for robbing a livery cab driver.

Street cart vendors in the area say they work long hours and don’t need to be worried about their safety.

“We are very scared and we need money to support our families,” said one vendor.

Anyone with information should call police or Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
