The 28-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen around 11 p.m. Monday outside the USA Diner on Merrick Boulevard in Rosedale, where she's a regular customer.

Police say the woman and her boyfriend were only in the diner for a few minutes when, for some reason, they decided to leave.

That's when cops say the two walked out to the parking lot where witnesses heard them arguing. She was then shot while sitting in her car and called 911.

The woman was taken Jamaica Hospital and was last listed in stable condition.

Police are hunting for the victim's boyfriend, who was last seen driving eastbound on Merrick Boulevard in a white BMW.

The woman has been a corrections officer since last August and works on Rikers Island.
